Build The Line, a long linear city along the US/Mexico border, similar to The Line in Saudi Arabia. This would be a great measure for border security, provide many new jobs, improve the economy in the region, provide a lot of housing, and draw in tourism. Such a border city will increase border security many fold because the residents will be aware of who is coming and going. The tall south facing wall of the city will be difficult to surmount and will a well monitored entryways every 5 or 10 miles. On the northern side of the city will be parking lots, parks and outdoor recreation areas, playgrounds and the like. The city water will come from the Pacific Ocean produced by desalination facilities powered by solar energy. There is plenty of sunshine in that region. The wide roof area of the city can be covered in solar panels.
