In many states property owners never truly own their property. If they become delinquent on property tax, their home can be taken away. I propose no property taxes allowed on primary residences. That way once you hold the title to your property it is yours.
For a house it’s property tax personal property tax is cars, motorcycles, trailers ect… two separate issues I agree both needs to go

I agree with you. The people are guaranteed the gains of their own industry, to acquire & possess property & all gov. was created to maintain and protect the people’s individual inherent rights. That is guaranteed by gov. so they were not authorized to take our gains through taxation. They are hired to benefit us and it does not benefit us to have to pay endless taxation of what we own.

Thank you for including the legalities for my proposal… although I’m sure I’m not the first to think of it! My own personal property tax increased $250 a month this year. I can afford my mortgage but if the property tax increases every year like this I soon won’t be able to afford my home.

I agree. Our Property tax in North Texas is outrageous and we are a home schooling family too. It would be so nice if our funds (money) would go with the children, instead of these schools. Give parents a choice. Abolish property tax as well!!!

Sell bonds to raise capital for the cities and towns. People should not be debt-slaves on their own property.

Disabled is a slippery slope. We know people already abuse disability, so we’d have to have some form of protection against that.

I’m also in North Texas! The property taxes are out of control and as citizens we can’t do anything about it. It’s extortion.

Definitely agree on this, and I would add something needs to be done about a portion of property taxes going to a public school that is doing something against the payers conscience. The largest portion!

I agree you pay for your property and they tax you on already owned property. We already pay state tax! You never really own your home with property tax. If a bad year happens and you don’t pay for your property again and again and again they will take your home. Disgusting.i don’t have to pay tax on the underwear I bought last every single year or my car. But they want the right to steal my home. No

In Michigan they are making up tax law as they go. Imposing random unjustified fines with no reason agaisnt farmers and active duty military. It happened to my family. We have always paid our property taxes. They hit us with $3,000+. We contacted our representative Congressman John Moolenaar and hired a lawyer. After his office got involved they backdated the made up fines including late fees with interest 3 years. It cost us almost $12,000 extra in property taxes this year. They refuse to answer my emails or give me a tax tribunal hearing. It’s completely lawless mobster behavior. My lawer said they’re is nothing we can do. 12k is a lot of money for my family. We have had to go without to keep our home.

It’s not 1940. America isn’t barely surviving or in that dire of need that everything needs to be taxed.
Sales tax? Sure.
Property and income? No. Only in times of crisis.

Unfortunately, this is a state/ local matter and beyond the jurisdiction of the federal government.
