Ban on Pharma Grants

Pharma grants should be banned in Universities for all health related programs, front and back doors - I.e. - grants given directly to Universities, Schools, or researchers pertaining to those institutions given by Pharma or Big Food Companies, or given to governmental institutes to be redistributed to educational centers or oinstitutions.

Sounds wonderful, we need creative ways to fund medical research that is objective and not tied to pharma, we have natural health studies ready to go, all that is needed is the funding, am really hoping NIH can be a real help instead of a hindrance as in the past, NIH would fund almost exclusively pharma studies

I’m also in health, and “alternative medicine” and public health, toxicology, among other specialties; once these Pharma and Food grants are blocked from Universities and health professional education, medical associations and such, it will give way to once again have natural medicine modalities to all. Nature provides everything we need to heal and keep our health - we shouldn’t discard the value of the allopathic emergency medical attention.

Agreed, allopathic medicine has its place but not to the exclusion of everything else; I was fortunate to research natural products with children with severe BIpolar Disorder, the parents pleaded with us not to touch their medication because it took so long to ‘get the meds right’
We added high quality natural supplements and in 6 months the children’s side effect scores went down significantly, at first the poor kids look drugged, the change was dramatic just adding the quality nutrients
Back then I approached several universities to run larger studies as ours were pilot trials, the response was sad, almost jokingly they told me they would run any study I wanted if I brought them millions of dollars! At the time we had many dedicated volunteers and not one of us got paid, I will tell you the reimbursement was beyond measure to see these children thrive
Now it’s time to move the field forward
