There are numerous ailing seniors who don’t qualify for nursing homes but do so for assisted living facilities which many provide on-site medical care. MEDICARE does not cover these assisted living facilities except under (unrealistic) extreme conditions, regarding them as “hotels”. For qualified seniors who require this type of care, the regs should be relaxed and allow for more flexibility for any senior needing assisted on-site care. These assisted senior care facilities should be under the oversight of the fed health govt which should also address the extreme and exploitative expense of these senior facilites.
