Highways have been funded. We have the best highway system in the world. It’s time to use those funds for a multi modal approach and truly solve traffic congestion!
States should be required to use their funds yearly not create a war chest for abuse. IF this happened then we would have the best highway system because there would be less traffic issues, no pot holes, faster expansion etc. We already have a train system lets figure out how to best use it. This will require less government not more.
Maintaining and Improving transportation is a huge challenge. Roadways need repair every 5-10 years on average.
There is a lot that goes into planning especially so in urban areas. It is never a convenience.
I have worked on highways over 6 years underground to overhead. There is much to consider to replace a manhole for example, gas lines, sewer, electric, ROW limits…
I agree that Public Mass Transportation would help alleviate bridge and roadway repairs. Another post for high speed long distance trains is a good idea.
