I’m fine paying taxes, I just think we should have more say in how that money is allocated.
Proposal is to add a questionnaire to tax filings, where each payer can list how much of their tax money they would like to see spent on what categories, be it defense, welfare, education, infrastructure… or leave to legislator discretion.
Then, similarly to a SSA statement, Congress can present how the actual budget measures up against the sum of all the individual tax payer preferences.
The idea is to expose the tax payer preferences in ways that simple red vs blue cannot.
