Each taxpayer decides what agency gets their tax dollars

When a taxpayer does their taxes there is a section where they select what percentage of their tax dollars go to each government agency.

Maybe phase it in over the course of a few years.

Agencies that are important and valuable will get money. Agencies that are worthless will be reduced as their funds dry up.

Over years and decades the funding percentages will change to match the needs of the changing world.

Probably need to clean up the scope of each agency and reduce the number to make it easier for people.

Have one check box that will allocate their tax dollars based on national average selection, for those that don’t care to fill it out themselves.

I like this! It could be that each taxpayer earmarks percentages of their tax dollars to departments/programs that they want to support. Congress then acts accordingly to the will of tax payers through dispersement of funds.

I’ve thought about this for decades!! It is in line with the idea behind THIS platform - where the most important issues will rise to the top!

I would also give a multiple choise question.

Should taxes go: up 10%, up 1%, down 1%, down 10% next year.

All responses tallied and calculate weighted average to adjust next years tax rate.

I feel this could be for federal and state levels. Good thought.

IIRC, Joan Baez adopted a policy of refusing to pay income tax intended for military, Vietnam war.
