I believe that we should put an age restriction for Congress and the president. If there is one thing Biden has shown us, it is imperative that the people who represent our interests should be of an age where they are capable of doing the work and also cognitively sound. I do not think that someone over the age of 75 should be running our county. While I understand that President Trump is over that age, I think he could implement a change that could benefit our country as a whole. The rest of the working class people are in many cases forced to retire at 70 it should be the same for our elected officials.
I recall that in 2022 there was a senator who was elected and she was 90 years old. Her daughter was appointed her power of attorney, but she was allowed to make decisions for her constituents. She later passed away and I’m unsure of how they went about replacing her. I think this is unacceptable.
Also the president should be submitted to extensive cognitive testing and if the results are troubling it should be disclosed to the people. We need to know if we have a mad hatter in office.
Sometimes, age really is just a number.
It’s not age that should be the concern, it’s whether that person is up to the responsibilities of office.
I would much rather have mental aptitude tests for all over simple age restrictions.
Congressmen need to live and work in their home districts. Then we’d know if age is just a number.
If you like it, click this link to vote and comment? Representatives work in their districts - not DC
I think we should have both. If the general populace is forced to retire from their jobs then they should also be made to retire. Also I I think it would generate more turnover and involve younger persons in our nation. No more in office until death and also more opportunities for others in our communities.
I think you’re looking at the problem backwards.
