Abortion is not the answer so we have to be the answer. We have to provide the resources to care for our mothers that need help so they can drop the concerns of money/home/care/resources. We need to give them a new choice.
I propose we develop something very similar to the foster care system. This new State service would promote the safety and well-being of pregnant mothers and their babies.
A pregnant new mother would be able to apply for services to help her through the process of having her child and getting back on her feet. A foster/host family would be provided to the mother that had gone through training/schooling in this area. The family would be given income for their help/care like in the foster care system. Care for the mother such as a space in their homes to stay, healthy food to eat, help applying for medical care, taking to appointments if needed, getting needed social services, counseling, life skill classes, spiritual guidance, job placement and or job corp schooling opportunities. There would also be opportunity for adoption if that was the choice. The ultimate goal would be to assist in whatever care is needed for the new mom/family to succeed and thrive and have the best beginning possible for mother and child leading to independent living.
