A new model for high school graduation

Short and simple. Each state should be extremely concerned about the education of their population and work force. Eliminate the Department of Education. K thru 10 curriculum completed by age 16 (or sooner if the student wants to). All the basics completed both online (Everyone loves online right) and in the class room as needed (some topics need an in person teacher to help). 11th and 12th years can be advanced high school degree, vocational training or college preparation. 16 year old’s with a high school diploma and parental consent can get an early start serving in the military. Any kids living in the school district can join and participate in any of the schools sports teams or other school events (Drama club ect). Public school buildings should be opened early and closed late to serve not just students but the public as well. Oh by the way, school is all year long…Okay, one month off in the summer and two weeks off for Christmas. Before school hours and after school hours services for working families should be provided and available at these public buildings. Out with the old education models and in with the new. If your student head does not hurt a little after a day of learning did he/she learn anything? Best to all and to our future.
