Children have the right to learn how to grow food. Lets start School Farms at every single school in our Republic and then on Earth!
Imagine. A school farm, where boys and girls have the opportunity to learn the most fundamental activity known to Humanity: Farming to create sustainability.
All children, from pre-kinder to high school would spend time learning and working on the school farm, which would provide food for the school cafeteria and an on-campus farmer’s market, where everyone in the neighborhood could buy their eggs & veggies.
The new generations would all grow up knowing how to grow their own food and our food quality would improve very quickly.
And never again would our food be hijacked for nefarious purposes by evil people.
Yes absolutely! I’d also further argue that passing through high school should require some sort of test or class credit that pertains to not only how food is grown but also how it is transported and moved through the supply chains. That takes a high priority in making people understand why we need farming. As a former FFA member, I’m praying for the day that agriculture becomes a requirement because, it is just that important.
A farm for every school would go a long way to making america healthy again!!! Let the children eat the fresh food that they are growing themselves. This will both enrich them with the experience of growing and gardening and enrich the health of their bodies. Not to mention the peace of mind and mental well, being that comes from gardening and growing as well. I call that a win win win all around.
Let the school be the farm! Students are not made to sit and listen to lectures. Bring in the elders to guide and inspire the young ones. The way the indigenous worked with their young is the ultimate way to raise children, in my opinion.
I’ve thought about this many times not only would it be educational for students and provide healthy food but it would cut costs to schools in the long run as well.
Instead of paying vendors for fresh fruits etc it’s items that can be grown.
This is a great idea. If they had too much access, they create a coalition to give to food banks if possible. Also, we need to bring back vocational studies, like auto shop, wood shop, metal shop and economics to create skills.
Yes, or provide extra funding to schools that actively incorporate nature into the campus culture, or schools that use natural grass for sports fields instead of artificial turf.
Let’s focus education supplying the resources to all schools including inner city and low income who are often left out of the organic/quality food equation.
