Worker's Compensation should compensate the worker, not protect the company

On the job injuries occur quite often. In many cases the employee is unable to work and only able to draw a percentage of their regular pay. In today’s economy, this can be as crippling as the injury. Their lives are often upended, the injury not adequately treated all at the mercy of what Worker’s Compensation allows. (their rules, their doctors, their permission) Additionally, it’s an uphill battle from attorneys onward only to get a subpar settlement further reduced by attorney’s fees. The laws in the states protect more of the company’s interests than the injured worker. The worker is often left permanently and forever changed. Laughable settlements cannot compensate for a lifetime of pain and future medical expenses, and TIME is one thing you can never get back.
