Every state seems to have their own ‘special blend’ of Gas. Would it not be more economical to produce one blend of Regular gas ( and Premium and Ethanol) for all of the US?
It’s not as bad as it seems - California has their own blend, mainly targeting the smog and pollution, while the rest of the US has a fairly standard blend.
Granted some areas outside of California do receive the California blend because of their proximity to the California refineries, but for the most part it’s just them.
Ethanol is capped at a maximum of 10% by the EPA except in gas branded as E-15 or E-85 (15% and 85% respectively), and in many areas you can find ethanol free gas as well.
