Vote for term limits for Congress in the general election

We need to vote on term limits for Congress. They will never implement it for themselves. We the people need to vote for this.

Not sure how to get there but term limits are decades overdue

I agree term limits need to be enforced, as well as age limits, and citizenship requirements. I proposed on Facebook a while back that every political seat other than the Presidency, because they are only allowed two four-year terms. All other seats should only allow to a ten-year term, which would be five two-year terms for Congressmen and Congresswomen. This proposal should be placed also within each state government branch and local government branches as well.

I completely agree! By limiting the terms they have more interaction with The People. If they arent lomited them it opens us up to be ignored and bring corrupt careers. This is a service of representation not a career toward financial wealth.

We need a convention of states to get several constitutional amendments in place!

A Convention of States (COS) to amend our constitution establishing term limits is underway using article V of the constitution. Presently 19 States have passed a resolution in support of term limits and to participate in a convention of states. Once 34 states (2/3 of the states) have passed a resolution, a convention will be called. The commissioner’s from all states attending this convention will craft the exact language in the amendment and when finalized send to each state. Once 38 states (3/4 of the states) have voted yes, the constitution is amended. I encourage you to go to th Convention of States website for more info. Look under simulation to see draft language on term limits and other proposed amendments. http://conventionofstates.com

I know how to get there. There is only one way we’ll ever see term limits established for Congressional members, staffers, and other federal officials—i.e. bureaucrats: through a Convention of States. More specifically, an Article V “convention for proposing amendments” I promise you, Congress will never propose any term limit amendment. The States will have to propose it through the convention process outlined in the US Constitution.

Yes we do need this—term limits! Problem is Congress will never vote for term limits for themselves nor will they ever propose a term limits amendment for the States to ratify. But there is another way.

It’s an Article V “convention for proposing amendments” a convention of states! That’s the only way we’ll ever see term limits established.

Term limits: How to get there: a Constitutional Convention of the States.
So far 19 States have approved a constitutional convention, one of the main goals: term limits. Google COS and support it please! Congressional reps will never vote term limits for themselves but the States can do it.

I agree term limits are required for Congress. Congress proposed an amendment to restrict the President to two terms (after FDR tried to make himself king). But I don’t know why this can’t be done with a law since term limits would not conflict with anything in the Constitution.

There is no method for the people to put forward and pass laws such as a plebiscite. This is not provided for in the Constitution which gives the law initiating responsibility to Congress.

I am also in favor of term limits for federal justices. Lifetime appointments have been demonstrated time and again to be unworkable.

I agree, but as Jacqui pointed out, it is very unlikely the Members of Congress currently in power would even consider a new law like this. A few of us are working on a strategy to get around that problem. If any of you are interested in getting on a zoom call to provide feedback or help push things forward, please send an email to contact@ddpus.org, so we can find a time to chat. The basic foundational change in our strategy is that we would chose who we put on the ballot for Congress by a lottery and simple vetting process. Please take a look and reach out for a zoom call. https://ddpus.org

Senate too

Term limits are way overdue, our senate is starting to look like a nursing home. But there are people in congress who operate about as well (or worse) than Biden did yet they’re still there refusing to let go of their grip on power.
