Servicemembers who accepted voluntary separation pay (VSP) and return to service must pay back the amount if they retire from the Armed Forces. Many servicemembers elected to take the VSP in lieu of being separated during a Reduction In Force. Some servicemembers returned to service at a later time to fill critical needs of the Armed Forces. Rescind the policy requiring servicemembers to pay back the VSP if they returned to service and continued to retirement.
