I feel that veterans who have honorably served their country should be excluded from all state and federal tax.
Secondly:
Veterans should not be penalized for their healthcare needs for their service to our country.
(Taxes):
If there needs to be a standard for this exemption why don’t we start with these points.
Honorably discharged
60% to 100% disability rating
No property taxes
Business tax exemptions
tax exemptions on major purchases (vehicles) or anything over 5k.
Please feel free to add to this list of the things you feel our service men and women have rightfully earned an exemption from.
Our veterans suffer from many service related injuries and illnesses. They put their lives on the line and paid the price for our freedoms.
(Insurance):
No insurance policies will be denied
All facilities will take VA Insurance
veterans will be given priority status for appointments and transportation for these services.
All medications will be accepted by the VA facility or one equivalent will be found with the same standards of results for the name brand drug.
Veterans policies will not increase regardless of the severity of their condition or severity over time. This is to include corporate rates increases that are unnecessary for their profits.
The more an insurance company helps veterans they can file for a temporary tax exemption that has to be renewed every year.
This exemption will include the veteran’s personal review must be included in the exemption packet. Holding insurance companies responsible for proper care for our veterans.
I agree 100%. We should be taking care of our Veterans first. And not be giving illegal aliens any type of aid and none to our veterans. And it seem that is just what is happening with the Biden/Harris admin. From reports that I’ve been seeing the Biden/harris admin. have been giving Illegal aliens aid by in some cases putting them in homes that were form our veterans and putting the veterans out on the streets and homeless. I’ve also been seeing the these illegal aliens have been getting aid and our American citizens are not getting the aid that they should be getting because Biden/Harris admin. seem to care more for illegal aliens than they do for American citizens.
You can’t use a 60%-100% disability rate to help regulate. For starters, not that many people get that high a disability rating (thanks to the VA) and even if they do, it will ONLY likely be for physical ailments. Not mental at all.
I am all on board with having a system that doesn’t penalize vets for seeking out mental health assistance either. Whether that is to integrate back into civilian society, or for combat related ptsd. Many vets are worried about going to seek help because they dont want their families or firearms taken away, or any other sort of retalliation. You wanna lower that suicide rate? Figuring out a way to make it safe for them to seek help will do that.
I agree with the disability rating. The va makes it hard to get a fair rating. Maybe that shkukd be another bill idea to reform how they are determining the percentage.
I wholeheartedly agree that veterans deserve policies that genuinely address both their physical and mental health needs, without the bureaucratic obstacles many currently face.
Reforming the VA Ratings System:
The VA’s rating process is clearly flawed, often failing to accurately reflect the full scope of disabilities, especially mental health conditions.
I fully support the idea of introducing a reform that would create a consistent, fair standard across all states.
Veterans who risk their lives deserve a rating system that recognizes the reality of both physical and mental health challenges.
We should push for legislation that prioritizes transparency and fairness in disability evaluations to ensure all veterans get the support they’ve earned.
Streamlining VA Ratings for SSDI:
I propose a streamlined process to transfer VA disability ratings directly into the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program.
Veterans should not have to go through redundant applications and verifications for benefits they have already qualified for within the VA system.
Once the VA has validated a veteran’s disability rating, it should be accepted by the SSDI system without additional review.
This measure would reduce unnecessary delays and ease the administrative burden on veterans seeking additional support they paid into.
Protecting Mental Health Privacy:
You raise a critical issue about veterans’ reluctance to seek mental health help due to concerns about potential repercussions.
We must address this by enacting policies that safeguard veterans’ privacy when seeking mental health care, protecting them from retaliation in areas such as family, firearms, and civilian rights.
Making mental health support safe and accessible will encourage more veterans to seek help, which is essential for addressing issues like the high suicide rate in the veteran community.
Expanding Tax and Insurance Exemptions
For tax relief:
I propose expanding the eligibility criteria to cover a broader range of service-connected disabilities, ensuring more veterans can benefit.
On insurance, it’s vital that policies guarantee veterans access to affordable, comprehensive coverage without facing punitive rate increases.
Incentives for insurers are a start, but mandating equitable rates and comprehensive coverage would offer veterans the stability they need.
Prioritizing Veterans for Services and Housing:
Many of you noted the disparity in how resources are distributed.
Policies should clearly prioritize veterans for housing, healthcare, and essential services.
Veterans who served this country should have the assurance that their needs are recognized and prioritized, ensuring they aren’t left behind.
Thank you for your input and commitment to making this policy stronger.
Together, we can create meaningful changes that truly support veterans’ rights, health, and dignity. Let’s keep refining this proposal until we have a system that honors every veteran’s service and sacrifice.
