One issue I see with veterans benefits is that they vary from state to state. An Active Duty disabled veteran due to war may or may not have certain benefits due the state he or she lives in after getting out. For example, in Texas and several other states, a veteran deemed 100% disabled doesn’t pay property taxes after they homestead after living there for a year. This should be an automatic benefit across the board, not left up to states to deny because they have no loyalty to the service members they send to war. Most states don’t offer this, or some like Kansas offer a partial rebate. It would be understandable to have states dictating benefits for their state’s National Guard, but not for Service Members who were Active Duty.
All Veterans should receive free homes and medical care for the rest of their lives. We should never ever have homeless veterans!!
