Use or Lose Policy

At the end of the fiscal year all government agencies are forced to spend the remaining money they have on hand or risk reducing their budget the following year.

I propose that we end this policy and instead reward these agencies for not spending all of their money by giving them 10% of their remaining funds to spend anyway they see fit.

The left over funds will be used to pay down the national debt every year.

A lot of what is spent at the end of the fiscal year is on items these agencies do not need. They are just spending the money so their budgets aren’t cut the following year.

We could reduce wasteful spending and cut our deficit at the same time.

I am for this AFTER we eliminate the vast majority of these agencies after they are reviewed to see what ROI they really provide.

I was a civilian contractor purchasing agent for GSA, we were forced to spend every last dollar on ridiculous items/equipment/services/personnel contracts, basically anything that would get us closer to our budget limit.

I was also a base logistics purchasing agent as a civilian contractor for the 3rd largest Air Force base. We were forced to work until midnight on Sept 30th and spend every last dollar on programs and services we didn’t even need, if we had too much we’d just pay for a whole mee building complex to be made or pay insane sums of money for all new “interior design” as well as multi million dollar interior design services.

The government has too much money, but it’s forced to spend it
