I’d like to consolidate this proposal into an even more comprehensive overhaul of policy in relation to the pharmaceutical industry and its undue influence in the sectors of health, public policy, media, big tech, etc. writ large.
I’m currently drafting a policy aimed at curbing what I’ve termed “pestilence profiteering”. This initiative seeks to address and mitigate the excesses committed by the pharmaceutical industry, which I see as not just influencing healthcare but also public policy, media, and technology sectors, among other things. My approach is to promote a common-sense framework that:
-
Reign in Pharmaceutical Influence: Address how the industry has shaped health policies, often prioritizing profit over public health.
-
Combat Corporatocracy: Develop policies that ensure corporate interests do not override the welfare of individuals, linking to my proposal for a Separation of Corporatocracy and State.
Given the events of the past four years, it’s clear that there’s a need for a robust discussion on how the pharmaceutical industry operates. The current model leans far more heavily towards “sick care” rather than preventive or curative healthcare, which fundamentally contradicts the medical oath to “do no harm”.
I propose we integrate these ideas to form a more holistic policy approach, while also addressing a number of other elements related to both the pharmaceutical industry as it relates to profiteering and their collusion with the insurance industry, and in the systems of governance.
What are your thoughts on exploring these dimensions further @CDT ? I’m open to collaboration and can share with you my draft on Google Docs before I submit it here in Policies for the People.
