The number of people moving out of expensive states like California has been massive over the last 5 years. The number of electoral the states get needs adjusting every 5 years instead of every 10.
According to a question posed to Perplexity.AI:
A. The makeup of the Electoral College is indeed derived from the U.S. Census. Every ten years, following the national census, electoral votes are apportioned among the states based on their population. This process ensures that each state’s representation in the Electoral College reflects its congressional delegation, which consists of two senators and a varying number of representatives based on population.
Congratulations, your proposal has been accepted and implemented.
Over the last five years, we’ve had so many people move to Texas from California and I hear of lots of other people moving around the states. I feel like they need to do it every 5 years instead of every 10.
I agree and all the illegals should not be counted in the census towards electoral votes until they become citizens. However, the census should probably maintain a record of any illegals or migrants or those who are not citizens.
