There should be a federal age of consent law that needs to be clear, universal, and strict.
If a person is deemed to be an adult and of sound mind then they should be to do every single legal activity of every other adult of any other age.
If a person is too young to own a pistol(21 yrs in most states) then they should be too young to serve in the military(18 yrs).
If a person is too young to drink(21) than they are definitely too young to vote.
It is immoral to limit an adult from any aspect of adulthood. Raise the age of consent for all things in all ways or lower them, but there should be a single specific age where the state recognizes that a person is no longer a child.
It should be extremely strict. A person below whatever the Federal Age of Consent, i.e. a child, should not be able to partake in ANYTHING that will have long-term commitment or consequences on their life: loans, military service, tattoos, marriage, consenting sexual activity, plastic or gender surgery, hormonal treatment of any kind.
