To fill the number of vacancies in the medical field, my policy would take qualified individuals, who wish to become a Doctor/Physicians Assistant/LPN, and establish a US Medical Corps that provides free medical school at an accredited US college in exchange for a 4-year commitment to serve in the Medical Corps at the discretion of the Corps.
The goal is to expand healthcare to underrepresented US populations by increasing the number of medical professionals available and lessening crowding and over-burdening of Emergency Departments of medical facilities that currently provide care at a much higher cost to Federal and State agencies.
At the end of a successful 4-year commitment, the medical professional can elect to attend additional training in a speciality of their choice ( Family Medicine, Geriatrics, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, etc) at the cost of the Corps in exchange for another 4-year commitment after graduation or certification.
