Instead of Social Security being a tax people don’t really benefit from, make it a US Bond investment program. People could determine what percentage they wanted to pay into the Social Investment Program (although a min amount would be required), and that amount would be put towards US Bonds, those Bonds and the interest accrued will be associated with those that pay into it, and it can be a mandatory investment that would give everyone a decent retirement, and in turn give people a lot more options when they retire.
