Truth in advertising

Since we have truth in advertising for pharmaceutical companies, we should also have truth in advertising for political campaigns/ads. If a person is found to be spreading misinformation/disinformation and happens to be in the government, they should be fined but not allowed to use the taxpayer’s funds to pay fines, it needs to come out of their own pockets.

Although I agree with the concept it’s very hard to decipher what is misinformation who would be the arbitrator of that?If a congress person runs on a certain platform and does not achieve what was promised they should be removed and replaced.
