I would like to make a suggestion to audit the The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) soon.
- There are not enough parking spaces for the trucks on the road. Where is all the money going? It’s obviously not going to building and maintaining rest area’s.
- The Hours of Service are a joke. They have made things so much more dangerous with drivers having to fight a clock to find parking. Shippers and Recievers don’t care and are not governed on how much time they waist of a drivers clock. We dont put time limitations like this on any other occupations.
- Governors (speed limiters) need to be banned or regulated to at minimum the fastest truck speed on USA interstates. Having a truck doing 55mph on an 80mph interstate is an accident waiting to happen. Cars get impatient & pissed off then cut the trucks off then break check them because they are in the way. Its not the drivers fault they can’t go any faster.
- The DMV tests CDL drivers thoroughly but dont test car drivers knowledge on interstate driving. (How to get up to speed, merge into traffic, how to drive around semi’s/busses/ campers/trucks&trailors.)
- Semi’s having CB’s should be mandatory! As well as reading and speaking English. No out of country CDL should be allowed and companies fined for letting drivers who are not thoroughly trained and tested in English. Companies shut down for hiring ppl to drive their trucks that dont have USA CDL!
- RV drivers should have to go through a training course on how to drive, turn, and handle those big vehicle’s plus their trailer and car haulers. Semi’s need special stamps to haul double or triples RV drivers currently have no training and are just as long and dangerous as semis especially when hauling trailers behind them.
- No truck stop should be allowed to do pay for parking. Or at least there needs to be a cap on what they can charge and the percentage of the parkinglot that must be free parking.
