Honorable retired status should not be required to obtain Tricare for Life Health Insurance. The ability to purchase insurance through Tricare should be treated in the same way as the GI bill or the VA loan, after serving honorably for a short period, 2-4 years, Veterans should then have the option to purchase a form of Tricare with the same coverage at a rate similar to Tricare Reserve Select. Our fighting men and women have signed on the line to give up to and including their lives for this country, but if they choose to serve less than 20 years for whatever reason they lose access to affordable health insurance with good coverage. There is no reason why every individual who has signed on that line shouldn’t be able to purchase health insurance for their family for $275/ month for the rest of their life

The veteran should be totally free no matter how long the service 2-20 years. Family members would need to pay to be covered.
