Therapy for mental health not be a "deductible" item

With most insurance plans, a person can see a therapist and only pay a reasonable copay (like seeing a medical doc or specialist).

But this isn’t the case with all insurance plans, which means the person has to meet a deductible first which puts mental health care out of reach. Or they were meeting with a therapist and with the new year comes a fresh deductible to meet, and they have to aburptly stop therapy.

PCP and specialists visits are copays even when a deductible has yet to be met. This should be the same for mental health therapy with all insurance plans.

There are parity laws on the books and yet this appears to be an exception when it shouldnt be.
