The streets are getting narrower everywhere you go in NY

I live in Long Island NY. My husbands drive to work everyday from Long Island to Manhattan which would take 1 hr but now since the DOT is constantly narrowing the roads and making them smaller it takes him 2hrs to get to and fro. They are turning 5 lane roads, like 3rd ave in Manhattan to 3 lanes which includes a bus lane and a bike which neither party uses. Even in Long Island where I live they are doing the same thing. This should be examined and assessed in every part of the US not just NY. And the governor wants to add congestion pricing so drivers can pay extra, for a problem the state created.
