The Diverse and Flexible Family Structures Recognition Act, 2024

Section 1: Purpose of the Act
The purpose of this Act is to recognize diverse and flexible family structures, allowing individuals to marry multiple times with partners of their choice while safeguarding their legal and social rights.

Section 2: Definitions

  1. “Multiple Marriages” – Marriages in which one person is married to multiple people simultaneously, with the informed and voluntary consent of all parties involved.
  2. “Inclusive Marriages” – Marriages between any combination of genders and number of partners, based on mutual commitment and consent.

Section 3: Recognition of Multiple and Inclusive Marriages

  1. Any adult is entitled to enter into multiple and/or inclusive marriages, subject to the informed and voluntary consent of all parties involved.
  2. The Department of State will register these marriages in the civil registry and grant them full legal status.

Section 4: Legal and Social Rights

  1. In multiple and inclusive marriages, all parties involved shall be granted the same legal and social rights as those afforded to traditional marriages, including:
    a. Fair distribution of assets.
    b. Child custody arrangements.
    c. Inheritance rights.
    d. Other social benefits granted to traditional marriages.
  2. In the event of disputes between the parties, family courts shall act to ensure a fair and comprehensive resolution of the conflicts.

Section 5: Education and Awareness
The Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services shall develop educational and awareness programs to increase public understanding of diverse and flexible family structures and to promote social acceptance and understanding.

Section 6: Additional Provisions

  1. The Secretary of State is authorized to issue regulations for the implementation of this Act, including guidelines for the civil registry management of multiple and inclusive marriages.
  2. The Attorney General and the Secretary of Health and Human Services are authorized to issue regulations for dispute resolution in multiple and inclusive marriages and to ensure the protection of the rights of all parties involved.
