Teeth!

Wow! Yes, that would make me want to avoid it even more too! Imagine if the average person could get a scan showing that… I’m sure we would all be horrified. I wish we could at the very least get UNBIASED research studies showing long terms effects of even minimal exposure because all the dentists can say is that it’s “very little risk”. At least then we could make our own educated decisions

100% AGREE! I needed a bridge literally the day before itvwas delivered to my dentist i broke my back. It took me 2 weeks to be able to go in i could not lay in dentist chair sat on edge of a chair. He lectured me on it not going to work now because too much time had passed my teeth moved and my insurance would not pay for a new one. So i do not have a bridge.

After 6 chemotherapy sessions and 19 radiation treatments on my neck to treat Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (Non Hodgkins Lymphoma), half the teeth in my mouth have cracked and/or fallen out. Needless to say, the hospital or medical insurance can not help with any costs associated with replacing teeth. I am retired and can not afford the outrageous dental costs of dentures or implants.

Please mandate that the dental profession and medical insurance companies afford us the monetary resources we deserve. Teeth should not be considered a luxury item.

But you or your dentist can apply fluoride. You don’t have to drink it and destroy your bones.

Absolutely, I ended up in ICU for 3 days and pretty close to going septic because of my teeth. Teeth are no joke. This should absolutely be a medical treatment and not a luxury.

I have lost all my molars due to getting them pulled was cheaper than saving them. I’m only 38. I still don’t have partials because it’s something we can’t afford.
My husbands teeth are crumbling due to his mouth breathing > due to his narrow palate >so his tongue doesnt rest in roof of mouth as it should for proper oxygenated sleep. Hes been quoted over 15k to fix his teeth to the point of orthodontic care which could potentially pic his palate with expansion and myofunctional therapy which would be another 10k we have no ortho coverage and dental is laughable with 1000 a year. And he’s only 40

My daughter needs a surgical procedure to expose and hopefully save her impacted canine. I was just told starting price for this procedure is $3200
It will take me months to save that.

Dental HAS to be affordable for us. Preventative care needs to be affordable
Can’t even afford the out of pocket for holistic safe dental care

SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE

Add hearing aides as well….even though they have become generic, one aide fits all is not a good fit! It is very important to have a GOOD hearing aide that is placed and adjusted to the needs of the hearing impaired by a professional….not just take a test at home….thats ridiculous!

The issue is there are not enough dental hygienists! I have to wait 8-9 months for twice annual cleaning!!!

I couldnt agree more i think that teeth also play a big role in a persons mental health i myself have lost a front tooth recently it has absolutely taken a toll on my self esteem and ability to fully enjoy my life, my ability to eat and getting implants costs thousands of dollars, i feel a little shallow for saying that but its true, i cant laugh the same or smile and those 2 things alone are extremely important to someones self esteem and mental health

There are plenty of dental hygienists. The actual problem is that our hands are tied and we are held under water by being forced to only practice under and be controlled by dentists in 48 of the 50 states. If we were granted national independent practice and full autonomy over our careers (they have this in Canada) you would find your access to quality, affordable care would sky rocket.

Access to care is a huge problem, both due to expense as well as simple availability of providers. Allowing dental hygienists to see patients independently without the restriction of a dentist would greatly improve access to care and the oral health of our country. There are many qualified hygienists that could be seeing patients, helping them to maintain oral health, reverse gum disease, even arrest active tooth decay, but we are not allowed to because we are forced to practice only under the power of a dentist and for many reasons, we are choosing not to or are unable to because there are not any available. This needs to change!!! Remove the monopoly of dentists and untie our capable hands and allow us to care for people! Maine implemented this in 2008.

U are not shallow u are human and not having that beautiful full mouth of teeth plays with your psyche for sure and it’s the first thing people see when meet someone for the first time and it’s absolutely ridiculous just throw that on top of everything else we gotta be paying for.
