This idea mainly revolves around getting more companies to adopt work from home. Or expanding infrastructure to allow work from home.
The long term benefits we are aiming for:
- Could be sold as green benefits. No CO2 from commuting. Less roadwork or expansion.
- Revitalizing smaller communities or rustbelts. Freeing the job from some metro office. To allow people to move to these communities. Or not have to leave to get a job.
- Reduce the cost of housing. By freeing the location of the employee, we reduce the demand in overcrowded areas of the nation.

I am blessed to have a work from home job now. I have one coworker who had to move to take care of a parent with dementia. His job went with him and eased that burden.
Other coworkers did not need as much day care. At least for older children they are close by, but the parent can be left alone. So the child does not need aome afterschool program to watch for extra hours.
Some families may be able to go down to one car instead of two cars. It may be tough but it becomes an option. Where before it would be inconceivable.
I was able to move states and finally afford a house where the metro i moved from they are twice as expensive.
