Our attemt at small regenerative farming was cut short due to food safety laws. Even though our chickens were humanely raised and dispatched, and were infinitely better than any poultry product you could buy at the store, we could not sell them unless they were butchered at a USDA abbattoir. Having a church barbecue and giving birds away was fine but as soon as we ask for money it became unsafe for human consumption.
The cost to butcher along with the drive to the nearest approved site forced us to grossly overprice our product and hindered sales.
I propose to Give Tax breaks to local regenerative farmers and remove roadblocks like USDA certifications, to make it easier and more desirable for small local farmers to provide for their communities.
Give food choice back to the consumer.

Definitely need incentives for conventional farms to be educated in regenerative farming methods!

Great policy, more support for regenerative ag and decentrialized Ag processing operations

What about not just tax breaks, but grants and other money to incentivize people to grow and maintain local food supplies? I would love to see this expanded beyond just small farms, but include things such as backyard production.
