Imagine having a world where the citizen has a 50% say on where their tax money goes to.
even year you elect what institution in your local community deserves your tax money. don’t like YOUR taxes going to building a wall? don’t want YOUR taxes going to planned parenthood? elect 0% to what ever you don’t support. elect x amount to the various institutions that align with what YOU want YOUR community to look like.
imagine reps from Social Security,Medicare ,Military , highway maintenance, FEMA, medical research, education, immigration, etc all having to campaign for your tax money… imagine accountability enforced by the peoples tax money.
lets give more control of our country to the people.
I’ve been surveying friends, family and the occasional stranger about a similar idea. Something like “Filer Choice” taxation:
“In an effort to reduce partisan concerns regarding taxation without representation/consent and undesirable distribution of wealth, would you support providing taxpayers the option of [primarily executive] departmental choice for a portion of taxes due?”
The idea is to provide check blocks on the tax forms for each department the filer wishes to support. If the decided percentage were to be 50 and the filer checks two of the 15 available departments then both would receive 25% of the filer’s chosen funding.
An argument can be raised that full contribution control will cause the government to more directly reflect the will of the governed. Conversely, giving filers choice for their entire contribution may result in insufficient funding for expensive or necessary efforts.
I 100% agree with these sentiments. It wouldn’t be possible to fund everything solely based on Filer preferences, especially as this program was rolled out. But having a certain percentage of everyone’s taxes go to a discretionary fund - essentially, what’s in place now - would mean the government can be selective about how to use the non-dedicated funds.
Make selections public (broadly/anonymously speaking) so we can know what percentage of Americans had __________ as one of their choices, or what percentage had ___________ as their only choice.
There should not be any continuations. Budgets must be required to go down by 5% every year. This requires the administration to appoint a team that would cut the waste out of government, reduce the size of government. Get rid of departments that drain us monetarily, and clean house. Rather than fines for congress if the budget isn’t passed, there is an election for new representation for house and senate. This way they are immediately held responsible and each year new representatives are elected until they pass responsible budgets on time.
It should be up to THE PEOPLE to vote whether or not tax money is sent to other countries. The government should make an announcement that they want to send OUR money to other countries for ??? and the polls open at this time and close at this time. The decision is made after the votes are counted. For an example, look at www.ForeignAssistance.gov and see how much of OUR money is going to other countries for Protection, Assistance and Solutions, Infrastructure, HIV/AIDS, and Agriculture etc. MILLIONS! But we have Americans being overtaxed, homeless because of disasters, veterans that are disowned, and seniors that are barely getting by. Take care of Americans first and then consider the other countries.
