Swift Death Penalty

Stop death penalty cases lasting several years, if the criminal is considering guilty by a jury of their peers then send them to the death chambers. Maybe give them a day or two to talk to and say goodbye to family members, but that’s it.
The criminals and their scumbag lawyers are using postponement tactics to delay the inevitable, and by doing so draining our economy. This must stop.

I’m sure there are plenty of guilty scumbags who deserve to be executed and who aren’t, for reasons you mentioned, however, I would rather they live long lives locked in a cell, than have the govt killing innocent people.

A quick search:
Nathaniel Woods: Executed in 2005 for the murder of three Alabama police officers, despite evidence of official misconduct, coerced testimony, and misidentification.
Ruben Cantu: Executed in 1993 for a murder he did not commit. New evidence has raised doubts about his guilt, and his co-defendant has recanted his testimony.
Carlos DeLuna: Executed in 2004 for a murder he did not commit. Investigations have revealed that the real killer, Carlos Hernandez, had a similar appearance and was a suspect at the time of the crime.
Larry Griffin: Wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to death in Missouri. New evidence has raised doubts about his guilt, and he was eventually exonerated.

And for context, I have a great aunt whose life was threatened by a man who has repeatedly come up for parole. He murdered 2 of her neighbors and vowed that he would come back to finish her and the other witnesses before running from the cops. It sucks knowing the survivors have to relive that nightmare every decade when it’s parole time but still it’s better than the govt killing even more innocent people.
