Policy Proposal: Sustainable Agriculture Research Investment

Rather than subsidizing specific farming practices, we propose ending agricultural subsidies and redirecting funds toward research and innovation that promote sustainable, high-quality food production. By investing in advanced agricultural research, testing, and development, we can encourage farming methods that maximize efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and improve food quality. This policy would empower farmers to adopt the best practices based on science, rather than relying on government subsidies that often favor outdated or harmful methods. It promotes long-term sustainability and ensures a more equitable, adaptable food system that benefits farmers, consumers, and the environment alike.

Is what you’re suggesting, to remove subsidies and then somehow support the practices that subsidies were supposedly supporting in the first place with something else besides money? Just basic encouragement?

The root cause of the problem you seem to be trying to solve is the fact that the regulatory agencies which supposedly keep our food supply safe have largely been captured by the industry giants they were meant to regulate. So instead I would argue we need to pass legislation that is designed to wrench power and self regulation out of large meat packer and grain processor companies and give control over the food supply back to the local farmers and ranchers so we can have local grown non industrialized agriculture supply the food we eat on a regular basis instead of mega grocery stores

After all science is just excessive experimentation in the pursuit of experience, and not one person can say they have more experience In this area than the people who actually grow our food every day!
