As a free American in a free society I firmly believe police (strangers with guns) have no business running plates and pulling citizens over if they’re not putting the public in danger and there’s no APB for the vehicle they’re driving.
There’s nothing ‘routine’ about a stranger with a gun (who thinks he can shoot you and legally get away with it) pulling you over and approaching your window for no good reason.
Police aren’t DMV enforcement, so if there’s a ‘broken tail light’ or some other DMV offense (bullshit), the police can simply type in the license plate and push a button for a bill to be sent to the address belonging to the vehicle, period. That simple.
IF this is indeed a free society, then this administration should ensure police are respected and not used as tax collectors or in a way that makes them an enemy of law abiding citizens. The people are taxed enough.
At this point and time in our country, ensuring police keep a respectful relationship with law abiding citizens is a matter of national security.
