Stop the government from hiding funds

End the ability to shift funds within the U.S. Federal government away from their congressionally appropriated purpose:

  • Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB): While this unelected board published guidance (Statement of Federal Financial Accounting Standards 56) allowing agencies to modify public financial statements to protect classified spending information. This implies agencies can adjust how funds are reported to obscure classified expenditures.
If classification authority is abused or individuals are looking to obscure their criminal fraud, waste, and abuse these “rules” make it easy to divert funds without congressional oversite.
