Stop the band on TikTok! Everyone on here knows the ban is not about national security but rather censoring the truth! Millions of Americans have learned more truth on this one social media platform than any other mainstream news! It is a treasure trove of learning and resources where everyday people can be heard and can teach and learn and it should be available to everyone.

Tik tok has algorithms designed to surface the most divisive content possible. I’ve seen first hand how harmful tik tok addiction is on tweens and teens, but especially girls. Watch the Netflix documentary, “Social Dilemma” .
Letting big tech intermediate itself into our communications to manipulate who can see what, the message conveyed etc is terrible! Can you imagine AT&T interfering with our phone calls the same way?
I disagree. Tik toks algorithm is designed to just give you more of the same content that you are already interacting with. If YOUR tik tok is showing divisive content then that must be what you are interacting with. My tik tok looks like natural health, local events, world news, recipes, funny animal videos… My content is informative positive and fun. And they are plenty other social media platforms that can show divisive content as well should we ban Facebook Twitter as well? Freedom of speech is the first Amendment for a reason.
I don’t even have a tik tok, FB, IG, or any other social media account – deleted them years ago. There’s congressional reports about the impact tik tok is having. I’m happy to hear that you’re getting worthwhile content. However, a sample of one doesn’t disprove the bigger picture, and tik tok’s algorithms are still an issue.
Look at how much Twitter has changed now that it’s become X under Musk. That compare/contrast is a good illustration of the degree to which what posts get how much visibility is manipulated by social media companies, including tik tok.
Respectfully disagree on this one. Independent news represented on social media platforms I find to be very credible like anything else you must do your own research. Thank you for the discussion. Love this platform!
