It is beyond my comprehension that a stated initial penalty is raised every year! This is outright robbery. It’s like constantly moving the goal posts in a game. After getting incorrect information from the source, I was given a penalty for choosing a Medicare Part D “late” It is now $5.00 higher! I do not understand how they can raise a penalty especially on something I hardly use…keep your poison to yourself.
A little off topic. Last year I chose an insurance prescription plan from the Medicare site that listed my maximum out of pocket for the drugs I had input at $1750.00, and I would be to the zero pay section by May. By June I was still paying and had paid over $2000.00. I called the insurance company and talked to a “Supervisor” for over an hour and she could not explain it except to say that I had not yet reached the"limit". She transferred me to another “Supervisor”, and after another hour, same results. I called my insurance advisor and together we spent ANOTHER hour on the phone with another “Supervisor”. After all that we learned that the numbers posted on the Medicare site are “just suggestions” since insurances DO NOT sign long term agreements with the pharmaceutical companies, and if they raise their prices anytime through the year, the cost is passed on to the consumer. I hit the zero pay limit in late October, and ended up paying over $2600.00.
It’s all there in the policy if you bothered to read it. You are literally complaining about $5/ month.
