Step Therapy Reform - Insurance Transparency

For emergency use only drugs (Epi-Pen, for example), make it illegal for an insurance company to say they “cover” them when in reality they’re only covered under “step therapy.” How is someone supposed to try the generic of a drug that if it doesn’t work, they die? Step therapy by definition requires documenting “unsuccessful attempts.”

Insurance companies need to be more transparent about what they cover, particularly when it comes to drugs where there’s not a realistic path to try a generic first. They should have to admit they don’t cover it. The current way leads to confusion & delays in medication.
