Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are often far more impactful to the environment due to lackluster oversight and regulations than the requirements for non-GMO or otherwise organic alternatives. These farming practices can destroy ecosystems by destroying waterways, sapping healthy soils for generations, cross-contamination, long-term pesticide impacts on environmental and consumer health, and much more.
The overall goal is to standardize the farming practices and requirements across the industry so that all farming, whether GMO, non-GMO, or organic, follows the organic standard process.
