Social Services Reform

Hello Gentlemen,

My name is Desiree and I have worked for the government for the last 21 years, part of which, as the Director for the local County Government’s Social Services. I am currently employed as the Director of Social Service for White Pine County. I am also the Department head over our Public Health and Transportation as well.

I would like to see a massive reform to the Social Services program of this country. In fact I would LOVE the opportunity to help you reform it.

I have watched as multigenerational families live off the system with no contribution to our society. I myself as a hard working American citizen believe in helping those in need. However I believe strongly in a hand-up NOT a hand-out. This is how I have operated my office.

This issues has lead to many EXPECTING the government to take care of them and never having to take personal responsibility for any of their actions.

This just leads to them teaching their children to do the same thing, and in many cases I am watching this cycle repeat over and over.

The ones suffering and paying for their lack of contribution is our Senior Citizens, who 90% of worked and contributed to our great country. Our Veterans as well do not get the help they greatly need. Where I believe, if we can reform the program, some funding can be put into programs that can assist the Veterans as well. These men and women were willing to die for our country, the least we can do is care for them.

I personally would love to help you all and be part of this. I bring boots on the ground experience to the table and not just someone who wants to make calls and hasn’t worked personally in this field.

Thank you for your time,
Desiree Barnson, Nevada
