Many American Senior Citizens cannot live on social security alone. The amounts paid are vastly insufficient. The fund has been extremely mismanaged. The amount of money put into that fund yearly if managed properly should be growing exponentially. Our senior citizens should not be destitute after working their whole lives, living in the most propsperous nation on earth. They should not be living paycheck to paycheck. They should be able to enjoy their golden years and be able to save a little every month for emergencies etc. and able to travel to see children and just live a stable life.
Iâm in my late 40âs on SSDI and can barely pay the mortgage let almond food, utilities and other necessities. Can not afford medical care either.
Vince I absolutely agree with you on everything you postedâŚexcept perhaps the solution.
Instead of asking for more depreciating dollars to keep up with higher-and-higher prices due to inflation from runaway government spending, maybe we can halt and reverse the problem by locking down the cause of the inflation, stopping the govt printing presses that print free worthless dollars, and move toward a gold/silver-backed currency that was originally called for in the Constitution?
Abolish the Federal Reserve, and replace the garbage Federal Reserve notes with gold and silver certificates (both paper and digital) which are immune to depreciation/inflation from rampant money-printing. Then we will not have to keep asking for more increases in evermore-worthless dollars, while chasing rising consumer prices toward the moon. With currency backed by precious metals (like we once had it), products and services would be 10x less than they are now â and would stay there. How about that solution?
We have to hold the government accountable; $200 invested monthly at 5% compounded annually would be worth over $1,000,000. If the retired left those funds as their principal, they could draw $60,000 per year, which beats the hell out of $26,000 of which it is taxed. I fail to comprehend how, in light of all the insider trading, Social Security is not invested appropriately; after all, someone could have given them a note.
I believe you are incorrect on that. Though he gets contracts from NASA through an open bid (@3 billion over 17 years), if he wasnât competitive and they didnât go to his companies, they would have gone to someone else. The real culprit is Congress giving a blank check to NASA. The cost overrun occurred because of federal regulations; the company was fined $150,000 per day for collecting rainwater for cooling tanks, even though it rained every day and the water would have simply run into the ocean. Guess who paid for that fine? Additionally, your Rumba would not function if Space X were not involved.
Miss Pat~Name~Too~Long, why is it that almost everything you post is agreeable to the Deep State but diagreeable to DOGE/Elon and the American People? Are you worried about the audits, called for by the American People when they elected Trump to âaudit the corruption and drain the swampâ? Inquiring minds would like to know.
Funny how an overwhelming number of non-govt employees are excited that we are now getting to audit our crooked agenciesâŚ
âŚwhile govt employees, statists, and tax apologists suddenly âhave personal issues with Elon and a sudden concern over data privacy issues.â
Like we didnât have multiple decades of govt-employed crooks and scumbags looking at our data alreadyâŚbut all of a sudden, when an audit team wants to shine a light on that data, its all about âprivacyâ for the poor little forgotten taxpayer."
The American People donât fall for it anymore. Besides, the data, computer terminals, servers, information and payment systems, and even the office furniture belongs to THEM. The American People want the corruption against tjhem to end immediately â they donât give a ratâs ass about private data anymore, after these govt crooks and thieves have been staring at it for years now. The damage is done. Now the American People want their house clean and the garbage taken out once and for all.
Oh, Social Security (and everything else with your ALL CAPS name) has been heavily invested from the day you were born! Each and every person is worth MILLIONS (if not billions) through the Birth Certificate scam (aka âStrawmanâ). They just donât tell us that (god forbid people should know). Their corrupt fraudulent system keeps people in survival mode while they pocket what belongs to you. Do some research on this - youâll be (furious) amazed at what you find.
The system was designed by the Cabal (Deep State) like this on purpose - to keep everybody in survival mode (and in perpetual debt). The entire corrupt establishment has to go down and be abolished. Do some research about the Birth Certificate scam (your âStrawmanâ) - âtheyâ create a Trust with your Birth Certificate and the funds in that trust are traded like a security over your lifetime. Your ALL CAPS name is what they use everywhere - everything is turned into a security and traded. We are all worth millions or more. That money is OURS and that money should be returned to the people - not stolen and put into their pockets.
Famous last lying words of a dying *Deep State statist cult. That explains the stupidity and 1980s mindset, my dear. Your hole is getting everso deep. Perhaps you might consider spending more time behind internet search engines and less time trying to convince others that Elon is the boogy man.
PS - The absurd length of your name appears as though you are trying to over-compensate for something. Just a bit of friendly advice. Tata.

I appreciate the ending of taxing social security, but its not enough. Ive worked since I was 9 years old. Ive paid thousands into social security. To hear illegal immigrants are being paid billions in social security is sickening. They never paid into or deserve it. I have just enough to cover my mortgage, and bills. With recent price increases, ive gone down to eating once a day for the past year. I had to move food to discretionary spending to keep up with ever increasing electric bills, taxes, and fuel prices. My vehicle is 21 years old, over 260,000 miles and now the engine is going. I cannot afford to purchase another vehicle. Social security is impoverishing senior citizens. Ive tried to get a job, but if I make enough to but a new vehicle, the gov will cut my benefit, its a catch 22. Something needs to be fixed soon. The next cut will be electricity. How do I do that. No solar is not an option. The systems cost more than I can afford and I still get an electric bill.
BarbaraâŚabsolutely. And that is precisely why they are scrambling for a fix nowâŚbecause they put this crap off for decades and the American People are down to the wire, living hand to mouth. The powers that be realize that if it is not fixed, like yesterday, there will be a radical change forced upon the country driven by mass chaos. You just described 90%+ of America in your post. And now these same people are now seeing how much wasted govt money went toward USAID, Guatemalan sex-changes, DEI pottery lessons in cambodia, luxury hotel accomodations for non-citizens, 250+ year old people receiving regular Social Security checks, wasted funds on woke/trans garbage in classrooms, etc, while they are eating out of cold bean cans in the dark, and being told that they should consider eating bugs, paying higher and higher property extortion taxes on FAKE ever-appreciating real estate values, and moving into 200sqft stack-n-pack modules, complete with mandatory mRNA vaccine scheduling, and a generous euthinasia end-of-life care package under âObamacareâ healthcare w/ a $7000 annual deductable.
The fuse is lit. It would be wise for the govt to scramble and put it out at this late stage of the game, before the powder keg blows and the tables turn on them.
As a country, we can no longer afford to raise any social benefits. We have a $32 Trillion dollar debt that will eventually bankrupt us. The Social Security Program is already paying out more in benefits than it receives in funding through payroll taxes. This means that in order for the US to pay 100% of promised benefits it is taking money from the Social Security Trust Fund Reserve. At todayâs rate, the Reserve will run out of money in 2035. At that point, people will only get 83% of their expected payout. If we donât fix the deficit, cut spending (which is what DOGE is hopefully doing), we will not be able to replenish the Reserve and things will only get worse.
To be honest, Americans should not have left themselves in the position where they are 100% dependent on SS just as someone who takes a minimum wage job shouldnât plan on relying solely on that income. If a person has $0 retirement savings and they are counting on those of us that do save money and stick to a budget to pay more in taxes, that is their problem, not ours. SS benefits go up every year with a COLA adjustment. I donât agree that we should bail them out instead of paying off the Trillions in debt that we already owe and which will cause the entire country to implode.
Yes, SS is insufficient, especially with the Biden economy. Seniors like myself can use a major boost in SS benefits.
there are a lot of us that want to retire but want to continue working! Iâm not ready for the grave but Iâm ready to receive my Social Security! And it is absolutely ridiculous that they limit how many hours you can work who made up that rule how does that make sense?! I should be able to collect my money in a certain age and if I wanna work 100 hours a week no one should be controlling that based on the amount of money I receive! That is what needs to be changed!
Andrew,
You mentioned all of the past usual talking points, except you didnât bring up 7 present and future points about SS affordabilityâŚ
- Hundreds of Billions in Fraud and waste uncovered by DOGE.
- SS Rolls with 250+ yr old recipients on them â all purged.
- Incredibly massive revenue via Trump tariffs and National Sales flat tax coming in.
- The rapidly shrinking size of the Federal Govt. and wholesale eliminations of depts and agencies, and the continuing costs of supporting these bloated infrastructures.
- Upcoming rapid die-off of the larger current SS recipient Boomer generation, replaced by much smaller generation of incoming SS recipients.
- Large numbers of would-be SS recipients now pouring out of the U.S. via the Southern Border.
- Large scale repatriation of U.S. gold reserves and the eventual repricing of our gold from $42/oz to upwards of 5k/oz. thereby wiping out our national debt (yes, this is all planned)
Note: you did briefly mention #1 in your post as a âhopeful.â
So when you reference the future, saying that we cannot afford to raise Social Security, and then you reference almost exclusively the past as a reason for it, without including the present and future, it sort of discounts the notion of being able to plan for or even reference the future in the first place, does it not?
Its not that I dont agree with what you are sayingâŚit is just that you cannot make an assumption that we can or cannot afford something in the future without accounting for the new and changing dynamics of what is presently occurring that may drastically alter that state of âaffordabilityâ. It seems as though we may need to âwait and seeâ if we can afford it or not. given the enormously disruptive and ongoing changes that I listed. Your points would only apply if nothing ever changed (pre-Trump) â but they are changing massively even as we speak, right? Again, I agree with you (in a static world) â but as one can see, a lot is changing all around us at this time, which might make your post obsolete even before it is fully considered. My two cents. Thx.
Now that sounds like a plan !
Some things that could help seniors extend their SS would be if they all qualified for assistance (if needed) from food banks, utilities, rents. Most assistance currently only apply to those who receive less than $1499/month, which is lots of cases their rent and utilities consume the majority of their monthly checks leaving very little for food and personal necessities.
Because they did not invest it they put it into the money laundering program so Congress members could get fat and happy at our expense.
Elon is not getting paid for trying to get government to work for the People. You should stop getting your news off of legacy propaganda media and turn to independent journalists. Check out Youtube or Zerohedge.com. You should also realize that Elonâs companies are the most efficient at what they do and in many cases are the only companies that can do what they do. The two astronauts who went up in a Boeing rocket are stranded there waiting for Elonâs SpaceX to pick them up. Eight days turned into 8 months. They would have been home already but Biden did not allow Space X to pick them up because it would have given Elon too much good publicity. Elon once a darling of the Left is now their whipping horse. I can say this because I was once a Democrat but once I educated myself to the horrendous shit going on, I am firmly independent and thankful that I could vote for Trump this time as without him we would have lost the First Amendment and so many other things while the theft of tax money continued. Do you want billions to fly out the door while Americans suffer? Iâm happy to see the progress on https://www.doge-tracker.com
