Social Security One Size Does Not Fit All

The SSI as well as the SSDI has had a huge issue for years ,First and formost is that people who are on the low end of SSI (943.00) that isnt even minimum wage and if you recieve that and have to pay rent and bills and purchase food it Kinda falls short…and if (by Chance own a Home )…then you have to purchase extra items …or pay someone to fix things that break down and since the SSI law states that ppl are only allowed 2,000 before they recieve an over payment notice …Laws need to be changed they are Outdated ,it is not 1989 anymore 2,000 in 89 could buy you alot now ,Nope not now and if you own your home there needs to be a seperate rules all together …to maintain there homes plus cost of everything has gone threw the roof

Why SS steals the contribution of a spouse that is deceased? My husband died at 57yr. We both worked and we both paid high towards SS, but I am only allowed to collect on my benefits. What happens to the thousands of dollars my husband paid. Why is it ok if a couple who has domestic partner is allowed to collect her husband SS but not a widow who worked. The system is bias towards working couples. If both are alive and of age to collect both are able to collect from their SS contributions, but not a couple who worked all their lives and a spouse died, only can collect from hers or his which ever one pays best. I call this the government stealing the hard paid money from widows. This needs to be corrected, because couples who worked and paid toward SS as widows are at disadvantage. The government has not right for those funds.

I have also posted a proposal to increase the asset allowance and safety net for work opportunities (when possible). The way it is currently set up incentivizes poverty and is inadequate for the cost of living.
