Skill set education

Skills that are applicable to self care and sustainability should be taught and it should begin at a young age in our schools whether public or private. Basic education of cooking, home care, child care, farming, homesteading, etc were taught not that long ago. This needs to be reinstated and used to further progress for our great nation. Such an example can be find in my hometown where I was raised by a farmer and a homemaker. The community ha a implemented a program where local farmers have donated a section of land and donate te seed, Kabwe, equipment etc to raise a crop each year that is then harvested,(again by volunteers and donations), and the proceeds all go to the kindergarten class and follow it all the way to their graduation year. The students are required to meet certain criteria such as a gpa and attendance and community service to receive the benefit. The benefit is a full ride scholarship to the college of their choice. These types of community involved programs generate motivated, productive, civil American citizens that give back.
Sincerely, Sandy Erwin .
