This is absolutely the way. Single issue voting creates an actual voting record for politicians so you know where they stand. Voting against “The Don’t Strangle Puppies Act” which has nothing to do with puppies but sends $750 billion to Ukraine looks bad on a representative based on the name.
If someone votes against securing the border, or voter id, in a single issue bill, you will know who the real villians are

Add automatic sunset clause. Every bill sunsets automatically after ten years unless explicitly repassed.

Bills should include a chart breaking down spending- what are you doing, for how long, how much does it cost annually and across 10yr budget period, what funds will be used to cover the expense.

There also should be sunset clauses in all bills with a maximum timeframe, force them to renew a bill by vote or let it auto-expire.

There needs to be a specific word limit to bills. Otherwise they will loophole this. 10,000 word limit.
1100% with this one! Hearing Pelosi say ‘we need to pass the bill to see whats in it’ is absolute bullshit and a slap in the face to every American.

I honestly dont think we need to fly them to DC all the time. They can have secure log in and blockchain to vote. I dont want our tax dollars to pay for useless air travel.

Agree on all added ideas - Members must be given ample time to read and decide. No last minute bills in the middle of the night with a next day deadline to pass.

Except we shouldnt be flying them to DC. They can log in and vote with block chain. No more missing votes, and wasting tax dollars on airfare.

First off I agree with the main points being proposed here. But related to the point below…
Name the bills based on what they will actually do, not what sounds nice and often misleading
Why do they need names? Technically they already have names (i.e. H.R. 5376). Any name would be biased and likely misleading.
Maybe they could have categories and sub-categories like budget and defense spending.
My other thought is that with the advent of LLMs and AI this will provide more power to the members of Congress to identify the cruft in these bills. I think this will naturally push Congress as a whole to more single-issue bills.
