Self Direct use of Medicaid funds in all 50 states

Self Direct allows a handicap person to employ a person of their choosing to be their caretaker and pay them. It gives freedom to the disabled individual to live where they want and live with independence and dignity. This program allows the CSW or Consumer Support Worker to be employed taking care of a disabled individual and use the money earned how they wish. The program is in 3 states at the moment, allowing a disabled person to hire a family member to care for them. This program has allowed us to care for our adult handicapped daughter and use our income from it to buy her a handicap van for transportation and give her a more enhanced life, a safe house, finances to go out to eat or to the movies and better groceries. More states should implement the ability for the disabled to access their own Medicaid funds to pursue happiness and control of their lives.
