Our votes are cast and counted in a very insecure, antiquated way. It’s invites untoward actions, and is easily abused. We have relied on the AP to announce who the winner is, and must trust that that is correct.
It’s time to implement a decentralized, open source blockchain based voting system. When you register to vote, your citizenship and eligibility are verified, and you’re given a card which includes your private key that you will use to cast your vote. You can vote from a voting booth, or your home. Votes are cast and counted in realtime. Results are seen in realtime, not just when they decide to update you. All votes (anonymously) are tracked and every vote can be verified via blockchain. Individuals can verify their vote anytime they’d like.
With open source, decentralized software that verifies votes and voters independently, each person could help secure the entire system. No longer will government or bad actors be the ones to tell us who won. We will know, in realtime, with receipts.
This must be an open source, not for profit system, created by a group of individuals working on it for the betterment of the nation and securing our elections.
