The education of our children is a top priority. However, the current public school system agenda is not effective, and simply increasing funding without seeing improvement is not a viable solution, especially considering the burden of public school taxation.
As a family who has been paying school taxes for over 2 decades, even after our children have graduated, we feel that our voices are no longer heard. We believe that families who have successfully put their children through the public school system should not continue to bear the same tax burden.
We suggest implementing a reduction in school taxes for families who have successfully graduated children from the system. For example, a 15% reduction in school taxes for each child who successfully graduates high school would be a fair and reasonable proposal. This could result in a 30% reduction for families like ours, with potentially more for families with multiple children.
For individuals or couples without children who have not utilized the public school system, a lower tax rate than those with children in the system could be considered.
By implementing these changes, families who have already contributed significantly to the public school system would have more financial flexibility for savings, retirement contributions, local economic support, or higher education expenses.
Thank you for considering our proposal.
