Sax offender registry reform

I believe there needs to be sex offender registry reform. When they’re young adults and teenagers being put on the sex offender registry they are suffering a lifetime of inability to find work, keep work, get a house, and have a future and move forward. Some of these kids were just having consensual sex, but it was the height of the me too movement and everything got out of control. The ramifications are devastating for families of these young kids that were put on the registry at such a young age. Imagine what you might’ve done as a teenager or someone you know might’ve done as a teenager. Consensual sex between kids should not be something that should be punished for the rest of their life. There is no force, no heinous crime, no rate. Just the height of the me two movement. I believe the Trump administration should look at this and give these young adults, a second chance in a route to be able to move forward and live in normal life. I personally know of a young man who was convicted at the age of 18. When you’re 18, you really don’t understand the law in papers that you sign. They give you a plea of two years and then you have to be a registered sex offender. In that moment, many people do not understand what that means. I can tell you as a mother the ramifications and the unintentional consequences are unbelievable. There are war restrictions And they expect you to move your child away and treat them as though they are shunned. This is no way to raise a family or to raise a country. Please look into this and consider you yourself your family. When this is a young teenager who have sex with another teenager.

And who’s fault is that? And if not 18, what age do you purpose? And if you are not adult enough to understand your actions have consequences, and the ability to agree to and sign plea bargains, are you really old enough the have “consensual sex”?

Answer to question are you old enough, or consensual sex , probably not, that’s why they’re dumb teenagers, honestly . But it still happens. I am hoping, that with change, comes some other option than being listed on the sex, offender registry for the rest of your life. When signing the plea bargain, you get your punishment, after your punishment is completed, but then you are on the registry. In the state of Florida, it is for the rest of your life and even after you die. when signing a play bargain at such a young age, you not always realize the effects of what the sex offender registry really is. All the laws you must follow just to walk out your own house daily. I just think, that when someone is A teenager, maybe that case could be looked at a little closer instead of a blanket charge of sex offender. I’m thinking, it’s only for consensual, no force no rape just kids having sex. I remember when I was younger, many young girls always wanted to be older and want to date older guys. But I am older now, and this is not acceptable in society as it was when I was growing up. We were allowed to date, older men, obviously not too old, but my husband is six years older than I am. I’ve been happily married a long time now. This is something that is affected a young person that I know. The restrictions that come with the registry after your punishment are unintended consequences. I don’t think people know exactly what those entail. Many times your family cannot live near you due to residency restrictions. They cannot travel to see you due to travel restrictions within different states in counties. It would be nice if there was an off-road for the registry for our young people. They become model citizens after having to deal with the registry Probation. The person that has been on the Probation just wants to work, it is so hard to find work. They would like to just move forward with their lives and become productive citizens. Make a life for themselves. Just be an American citizen
